The book to own if you are interested in traditional basketry - good details on "making" your own, tips and techniques. Unfortunately cheap imports from China now harm the tradition and few people are willing to pay even for the materials required to make a "Nantucket" if they learn the differences between a cheap copy and the real thing. Traditional basketry is an art form.
This book arrived in excellent condition and was well packaged. The book itself is very entertaining and has wonderful easy to follow instructions. The first half of the book provides a wonderful history of the craft and the evolution of the designs. The second half has well written and well illustrated plans for building your own version of these wonderful baskets.
I purchased this nearly new hardback Nantucket Basket book as a gift for my wife. She is a weaver and reported it was very good. She was delighted with its descriptions. I was able to locate two more books by the author on basket making publishat about the same time-both well appreciated, and they have found a place in the library for reference. Find one and buy it !
Lots of info in this book. So happy I found it. There are very few books out there on this topic and this is the best one I found.
