I bought this for my uncle, who collects Savage 99 rifles. He loved the story about the origins and changes in the rifles. I think he read the entire book in two days. The glossy color photos of so many rifles were beautiful. I couldn't have given him a better gift!
A great reference for Savage 99 fans. I had hoped for good coverage of the early factory engraved ones, however, the author indicates he will cover these in a follow on volume. This book covers early and modern production 99's and really picks up where Doug Murray's standard 99 reference left off, with good clear photos and illustrations.
David has done a wonderful job of pulling together a wealth of knowledge on the venerable Savage series of lever action rifles. This is only the second book containing info on the Savage 99 family of rifles. It corrects previously printed errors and includes terrific photos of the guns themselves and some of the proud owners from years past. This is a must-have for anyone interested in the Savage 99s!
A little pricey, but if you have a definite interest in the 1899/99 Savage's, this is the book for you. Excellent photos also.
I could not figure out what I had, so I bought the book. It has good pictures and is helpful for identifying obscure variants. It helped me realize that I had a 99T, which is rare.
Great book on the Savage 1899... Have been a fan of the 99 for @ 60 years and enjoyed all the information provided... A must have book for any Savage 99 Collector.
Very possibly the best book ever written on the Savage 99. If you are interested in this gun, its history or a collector, this book is a must have!
Absolutely Great. One of the best Gun Guide books I've read. Recommend highly to anyone interested in this rifle.
