This book does contain Tiffany window designs which Tiffany created using Tiffany glass not modern glass. They reproduce very well when scanned. I use them in computer application of the designs. The book which has the postcards is "Tiffany Stained Glass Windows" by Alastair Duncan (ISBN: 0486253368)which I also bought. This book does have some colored images and when combined with the Duncan Postcards you can produce some nice images. Fifteen or sixteen of the postcards are images that are also in this book. I would suggest buyers consider getting them both.
Great Tiffany postcards. However, I thought I would be getting Tiffany stained glass patterns. The title is misleading, and the contents were a huge disappointment. A better description, or the words "postcards" in the title would be helpful. I'm sure I'm not the first one this has happened to.
This book is a wonderful idea. Unfortunately, most of the patterns do not have a colour chart and it makes it impossible to guess whether a piece of glass should be leaf or sky or bloom from the shape. Given the time and effort that would be required to complete these patterns in stained glass, not to mention the $$$ expense, I refuse to do suc risky guesswork.
If you are into doing windows in the style of Tiffany you need this book...lots of beautiful patterns which can be enlarged at your local copy center. There are color illustrations of many of the patterns which should help in selecting glass but, as usual, the actual glass selection is up to you. It would be nice if all the glass used was specifically identified (mfgr., cat. no., amount needed, etc.), but hey, then we wouldn't have all the fun (?) of agonizing over the selection.
These pages are not the vellum type you would think when you see the words, stained glass. These are just coloring pages. Now, that said, the paper quality used here is very nice and bright white. Your colors should stand out nicely.Connie Eaton is there for artist credit and she has done such a phenomenal job in creating these beautiful scenes. You want be disappointed.Mary Fortner SmithComics.....Resistance is Futile!
There are 60 designs, with 16 color images on the front and back cover. The line drawings are difficult to determine the color of glass to use.
This is not a "pattern" book per se... it is more of a guide book to make your own pattern. If you want to use this book to create your own stain glass windows- you will have to take this to a place that will blow up the image for you. Also, you are going to have to guess the colors in many of the "patterns," as there is no color guide for the pictures in this book. I scanned and printed the images from the book and used color pencils to designate colors before working the pattern on my own window.16 color photos are provided and there are 60 pages of designs.Buyer beware and be conscious of your use intended for this book.*Note: I wanted to use this book for gallery glass products and create a window design on my own windows at home. But I had to get the images blown up to size needed to accomplish this.
This book has very poor color pictures of the patterns. I have been very interested in "The Deep Sea" and there is a pattern in the book for it. However there is NO color picture to give you an idea of what it will look like in glass. Of course I guess you have to be creative but that's not a strong point of mine. And unfortunately I have NEVER been able to find a color picture of "The Deep Sea". The other tiny tiny pictures in the book don't really give you much to go on either for ideas of what color glass you might want to use for the other patterns. Glad I only paid a few bucks for this one.
