The Art And History Of Glassblowing

Glass is a unique substance. Neither liquid nor solid, it is created, through heat, from the fusion of raw materials. Discovered by accident 5,000 years ago, glass has ever since captured our imagination. With the invention of glass-blowing, around the time that Jesus was born, the scope and scale of its manufacture increased hugely. This book provides a tour around the intriguing history of glass and its uses, as well as the legends which grew up around it, and gives an insight into the art and tools of the glass blower.

This book was a whimsy buy. Being a glass artist myself, I thought this book would be packed with interesting details galore. It wasn't. It was entertaining for a brief read, I finished in just 15 minutes and didn't get much out of it. It was well written but not worth the money. I might recommend it for someone who knows nothing of glass but then only maybe.
