It's pretty good for parties who plan the consumption of the DPM but not for ones who plan to design and implement DPM projects. It's very superficial, even there is no details how DPM does work. Even DPM 2007 books contained that.
This book is for those who wants to get started with DPM and get a feel what you can do with the product. The book is easy to read and you get a good understanding of DPM.The first chapter of the book starts off with an overview of what Data Protection Manager. It's a nice overview of what functions, techniques, requirements and limitation DPM have.Chapter two to four are focused around backup strategies and how you maintain your DPM environment. All from disk/tape management to monitoring and performance.Chapter five to ten each focus on different type of workload protection. All from BMR, DPM-aware Windows workload, DPM Non-aware Windows workload, Client protection and working with machine in untrusted domains or workgroups.Chapter eleven and twelve are focused around Disaster Recovery and Automation with PowerShell.Overall, this is a very good reference book of what DPM can do, and definitely something I'll be keeping on my bookshelf.
The information was too basic. If I preview the book at the bookstore, I would not have purchased it. Not worth of $$$ I spent.
I guess I was looking for a more technical deep dive, but the book provided a good overview of DPM.
