Learned some good items so far that I did not know prior from years of daily experience on the job in 2013. Stanek is an excellent author and makes technical writing an easy read and understandable. Sort of like how MS TechNet is helpful to read but I think Stanek does so in easier to understand language while still keeping short and to the points.

I am a monitoring person and I bought the book to learn how to actually monitor Exchange 2013 and there was absolutely nothing in this book about monitoring Exchange 2013 that is of any value. Since I am not an Exchange Administrator, I won't comment on the Administration parts of the book.

As usual pocket consultant books are straight to the point easy to understand if reader have some background knowledge of product.I believe there is a need of correct on location 1099. Where author is talking about transport pipeline, and the explanation is reverse.[...]The Mailbox Transport Delivery service receives SMTP messages from the Transport service on the local Mailbox server or on other Mailbox servers, and connects to the local mailbox database using an Exchange remote procedure call (RPC) to deliver the message. The Mailbox Transport Submission service connects to the local mailbox database using RPC to retrieve messages, and submits the messages over SMTP to the Transport service on the local Mailbox server, or on other Mailbox servers.

Great book.
