this book is a photo rich account of winchester shotguns produced during the classic pre-64 era, and as such it fills a hole in the winchester firearms library. this volume is full of photographs and gives good information. i have found it to be my "go to" book on winchester shotgun information. i do wish it had a little more text though which is why i rated it 4 out of 5 stars. still i highly reccomend this book to winchester shotgun enthusiasts.
Very informative. I bought it strictly for the information on the Winchester Model 12. If you have interest in buying one of those shotguns, read this first. There are over 2 million Model 12's out there, many variations, make sure you get the one you want.
I am writing this more from a cartridge collectors viewpoint than as a Winchester Shotgun collector. Ron's discussion and history of Winchester Shotgun Shells is invaluable. If you are interested in Winchester and in the part Winchester played in the deveoplment of the shotgun and it's ammunition, this is a great book. There are pictures of some very scarce to rare shotgun shells in the book.
A complimentary scorse on Winchester.This book would not stand alone on Winchester butmakes a pretty good addition to your Winchester library.
