The author really used her SMART VOICE when writing this. She used every circumstance that a child and parent could think of and gave us a simple way of talking with the child to help them use that SMART VOICE. My plan is to suggest this book be purchased for parents with children of all ages. It should also be in our school libraries and taught in the school system.
I bought this book when my children were young (3 years old). I exposed them to the benefits of this book, in sections, when it was age appropriate. The term "smart voice" is empowering our children to listen to their INTUITION versus the situation. This book is excellent and my children have referenced it many times now that they are older. I too, share with them different times when I have used my smart voice which opens the dialog for further discussions. Every parents should buy this for their children. Thank you Sharon~
This book was well written and had a great deal of useful information. This is a great book for the whole family to read and learn together. It's one of those books that you will want to read and reread as time goes by to refresh you and your child's memories on ways to be alert in situations and stay safe.
This was a helpful book that helped me to explain safety and how to use intelligence to get out of and avoid danger to my autistic son. Thank you
This book was purchased for my god-daughter (age 9) and her dad. In it, they found an example that was close to home. She has one of those electric scooters that went missing. The book mentioned the idea of a scooter having been moved next to a car or van. When the child comes out and sees the scooter, she would run to it instinctively. At that point, the van door slides open, the child is grabbed, and another family suffers a tragedy.None of us had thought of this. That one suggestion was worth the book. We thought we were aware but we never considered this scenario. My god-daughter is an outgoing, friendly, and beautiful little girl. She has a new scooter that she loves to ride. And, sadly, she could be a target. This book made her aware, and certainly made the adults in her life aware. The Smart Voice concept is sound and I recommend this book.
