This lady knows her prayers, it doesn't matter which of her books you pick up and read your prayer life improves a thousand times and so do the results. In this one she is focusing on your adult children. It is so difficult to pray for them because you are no longer the person in control of their life, they are, and of course, their ideas are definitely different from yours. Praying for them helps to keep them on the path of God without you becoming a nag in their lives that they avoid. Praying for them also helps to improve your relationship with them because you are not as worried about everything that they do. Well, in theory at least ;) . Stormie has an excellent writing style that is very clear. She presents her ideas well and her sample prayers cover the bible thoroughly.
I recently reviewed The Power of Praying for Your Adult Children in somewhat of a skeptical attitude. I put the book away. Lately, my heart kept tugging at me to get the book back out and re-read it. I opened to the chapter about When your adult child is in rebellion. I read it, highlighted it, referenced scripture and realized that Stormie gives incredible heart felt advice. I am finding valuable information and tools on how to pray for my children AND to keep from blaming myself for their grown up mistakes. I apologize for my earlier review and hope I didn't discourage anyone from reading this book. It is giving me hope and encouragement every morning!
Stormie O'Martian's "The Power of Praying For Your Adult Children" is packed with several wonderful ideas on how to pray for your grown kids. She gives appropriate verses of scripture to pray for each topic she showcases. Also included are prayers to pray or get you started in praying for your sons and daughters. This book is unlike her other books ("The Power of a Praying Wife" and "The Power of a Praying Husband") in that it doesn't highlight a different topic of prayer for each day of the month.Still, this is a valuable resource to help you pray for your adult children - especially if you have a difficult time seeing your children as adults. I recommend this book to every parent who wants to get in the daily habit or needs a few ideas of how to pray appropriately for their adult kids.
This book gave me terrific insite and support with my adult children. Knowing that praying for them is the best thing we can do, can give us peace. I knew this all along, but Stormie's added input gave great strength. Their choices are THEIR choices, our response is our responsibility. We can support them more with prayer than anything else! I highly recommend this book and have already shared with friends going through similar situations.
I recommend highly this book for those parents whose adults children are needing guidance from The Lord, as we pray this book my husband and I are reaping what we are sewing. OUR God is always watching over those who search him with all their hearts. As parents do not give up, God knows we are called to be praying parents to ask the Holy Spirit to touch the hearts of God's children.
Stormie has done it again. She searches the scriptures to cover our adult children in prayer. Her wisdom, insights and prayers help us know how to pray. Her books are easy to read, biblical and most importantly help us pray effectively. Her sample prayers are spring boards to praying for our adult children & in law children more specifically. They need the support of our prayers even more than they need our counsel. Don't hesitate to order this one.
This book is as good as The Praying Wife, Praying Husband and Praying Parent and it is pocket size so it fits in my purse! The picture is deceiving, looks regular size, the print size is ok but I have great vision at 59 with a little help from contacts. I highly recommend it.
The book is powerful in that it not only teaches/reinforces how to pray for our adult children who may be struggling with life in general, but it helps parents to understand/remember that the control and the ability to fix lies in the hands of God. Praying for our children to allow the Holy Spirit to work within them is in our hands.
