Although the basics of basket weaving are explained in this book, re: terminology used and some basic techniques, there are no actual basket patterns and no photos. This is not what I expected. I love the idea of making handmade baskets but this is not a guide that would help someone to make even a simple one, given what is included in this eBook.There was one statement in this book that I noted that I definitely do not agree with. The author says:"People will spend a lot of money to buy the goods that you do with a few hours of labor and inexpensive materials. Hence the return on investment is great. "I have purchased a lot of baskets over the years in all shapes and sizes and most of them were VERY cheap in terms of money, even some that were beautifully made.I don't think anyone is going to get wealthy making homemade baskets. ;-) That definitely did not ring true.Deleted from my kindle already.
Good basic information about the anthropology of various baskets; but, not much more. Good review of verbiage employed by the basket weaver I would have liked to see/read more on basics of construction, and the how to. I.e. What are the basic tools?
i have just come back to basket weaving after many years absent and found this book extremely helpful for reviewing and renewing my skills. time is often the robber of talent and memory and this helped fill in the gap. reccd for anyone beginning or moderately skill in this wonderful hobby. it can develop into a nice money maker also as your skill increases
Don't waste your money on this book because it really doesn't give you any information which you couldn't get for free. There are no illustrations so, if you've never woven before, the written instructions of types of weaves, etc., are pretty useless. Better for you would be one of many other excellent books on weaving. I just thought to add to my collection but it wasn't worth it in this case. By the way, this is the first negative report I've ever written.
If you are looking for instructions with diagrams or pictures, pass on this one. Even reading it for free was a waste of time. This book just covers the names and gives a very brief discription of the types of basket weaving but does not do anything other than that.Not very helpful and not very 101.
I was looking for instructions on how to actually make a basket, and this book gives zero instructions. Instead, it's like the entire book is just an introduction to .... a book with real instructions. Basket Weaving 101 should be renamed Basket Weaving 001.
this book lack any real info. the title led me to think it would be useful in my library but you cant judge a book by its cover. since reading it i have deleted it.
Worst. Book. Ever.Includes no useful information whatsoever.Wouldn't be worth the price if they gave it to you for free.
