As a novice dealer of new and antique dinnerware, this book has been an invaluable resource for identification and valuation. You will not learn a lot about any one manufacturer in this book because it focuses on the most desirable PATTERNS, featuring clear photos and basic pricing information. I find myself leafing through it often, even when I'm not looking for a particular pattern. If you don't specialize in one manufacturer's wares, but buy and sell a lot of different patterns, you really shouldn't be without this handy reference book. I hope Mr. Rinker will team up with Replacements to produce Volume II - The Top 1000 Patterns, 501-1000.

The pictures are too small to really see patterns, and the descriptions are OK, not interesting. My fault for not investigating the book more. On the other hand, the supplier was outstanding. Everything was done quickly and safely.
While this book is not exhaustive nor is it intended to be, it contains great information on the most popular patterns in a number of categories. I would say this is most helpful to serious collector of dinnerware or a person who sells vintage dinnerware.
The book goes well with my interest in dinnerware. It is a tremendous help with my attempts to better identify numerous patterns within my family. I was pleased to find the book for sale, especially a new copy. This book is like having a trip through the Replacements, Ltd warehouse. It has helped me determine what patterns I want to register with Replacements, Ltd. It will continue to serve me well for years to come.
This material is horribly dated and the price guides are not in line with the cost of china in 1997 or today.Many of the companies featured produced nothing of lasting value and faded away years ago.The book might be good for identifying your great-grandmother's dishes but you could also just look at the back of the plate.
I bought this book as a gift for a friend who loves beautiful dishes. She read the book immediately and loved every page.
