This book is really just an overview of the digital forensics field, although it lists many tools that are free that can be used to pursue some of the very generalized techniques described. There is a bit of product placement in the book, but this is mitigated by the description of several other tools that will do the same job. A decent read for a neophyte IT person to understand the vagaries of the field, but beyond that and the tools described, it offers little else.

This is a good introduction to Forensics. I used it for a criminal justice college course on computer forensics. It is not supper technical, but does provide a good introduction and mention many tools that are either free or available for purchase.

I would only buy this if you need it for a class. You could find better, and more current information just by searching online for any of the issues that are discussed in this book. But, it is imperative, if you need to use it as a reference, as I do, for my class.

Great text book. It's availability in kindle form has made it that much better for studying and note taking.

Book is reasonably good it reads quick and the tales from the trenches stories are funny and informative.

Not bad. Little real world stories make this a pretty good read for a nerd book.

Doesn't give you enough detailed information
