I've owned this book for a number of years. Though I'm not a hardcore stoneware collector, I do own a few crocks, and am always on the lookout for others. I'm interested in learning about them.This isn't a comprehensive guide, but there is a lot of information here about what to look for in a crock, and many pages of examples.The book is 154 pages, most of which are dedicated to photos of stoneware items, each with a description and price. There are multiple prices on each page.It was published quite a while ago now, so the prices are out of date - but, you can get an idea of relative value, and there are now online resources where selling prices can be found for various stoneware pieces. (For instance ,check out Crocker Farm and Bruce & Vicki Waasdorp's Antiques-Stoneware site, which is mentioned in this book.)One of the features of this book which was most helpful to me is the information on what features to look for regarding condition, and how to evaluate decorated stoneware.After the introduction and one-page "Stoneware Chronology," the book is organized into two parts and a number of chapters. Part I is a guide to collecting American stoneware, and Part II is devoted to pictures and prices.
