I love this book. I have known James for about 10 years. He has been collecting Franciscan dishes and patterns like Desert Rose and Apple and Ivy for over 25 years now. This is the best book for a Franciscan California Pottery or dinnerware collector. There is information on Catalina Ceramics and Art deco. There are unique bits of information that only a seasoned collector would know.
If you want to learn all about the Gladding-McBean Company and the evolution of the Franciscan Hand-Decorated dinnerware they produced for the greater part of the 20th century, this is the best reference guide you can find! Highlighting the most popular patterns in detail, I have found the answer to every question I had in this one book!
Excellent reference book and also very interesting. This book answered all my questions. Highly recommend.
This book not only tells the history of Franciscan Hand-decorated Embossed Dinnerware, but identifies each piece by shape and size. Also, it tells the price for each piece. My copy has a copyright date of 2004. I wish they would have available an updated price list.
I have my grandmother's Franciscan Desert Rose Dishes and wanted to learn more about them. This is a great book with all the information I needed. I highly recommend.
It is an excellent book and had the information I was looking for on the Franciscan Apple and Desert Rose Dinnerware. It also had the marks and showed the years that they were used which I found very helpful. Thank you Mr. Elliot-Bishop for this exceptional resource that went into such detail on each pattern.
