I know this is marketed as a review and there's another book (similar look, different author) that's the study guide, but I'd certainly recommend that one much more highly. This book book could have used a bit more proof-reading to say the least. There are many inconsistencies just within pages of each other, which needless to say is an issue when it's supposed to be helping you to study for a test. There are also inconsistencies between this book and the study book (which I can understand) but if I then look online to find which is correct, more often than not, it hasn't been this book. It also doesn't seem so thorough when it lists certain objectives but doesn't explain them at all. I know the study guide's longer and a bit more money, but probably worth it.
I passed the test on my first attempt with this book as my main resource! I liked the practice tests. Watch Mr Fords class on YouTube there was a very helpful A+ playlist.
If you are looking for a great review guide of the facts you need for the new A+ certification, this book is the way to go. Material is arranged according the CompTIA objectives so reading about topics that you are unfamiliar with is really easy. Time is not spend explaining the early developments of a technology. You are just given the facts that you will need to understand the technology for the A+ certification!
This book does not have enough detail for you to pass the tests. I am currently studying for the 901 and 902 tests. I use this for reference. The author does not have enough information for you to pass the test. There is a lack of tables. There is a lack of clarity. I have read a better book my Microsoft Press by Daril Gibson which is clearly superior in explanations and content even though it has not been updated for 901 and 902 yet.
