"Pattern Glass" by Mollie Helen McCain is an excellent identification guide for early american pattern glass. The patterns are organized by characteristics and pictured clearly. I have had much success in finding the pattern name for glass. As a price guide it leaves a lot to be desired. Patterns are grouped in one of six catagories and priced according to catagory. As both a collector and dealer I find that many patterns are considerably under priced, and that rarity of individual items of a pattern are not considered.

This is the best book ive found yet, and I have many books on pattern glass, If your going to buy just one book on pattern glass this is the one! great detail, very large variety of examples,

Mollie Helen McCain's Field Guide To Pattern Glass is a winner, covering all styles of pattern glass and pairing small black and white illustrations with clear descriptions. Those already familiar with pattern glass will find it a good solid reference.

I have found this book very helpful in identifying pattern glass. My copy is worn and soiled from being used so much. One of the best investments I have made in years...This book list hundreds of patterns shown in clear drawings. Great book for beginners.

This is probably as easy-to-use as such an EAPG guide can be, given the vastness of the subject. The line drawings are clear and give a better sense of pattern than most photographs. I liked the way it was organized into pattern categories (Diamonds, Facets, Ribs and Columns, etc.), but found the amount of information about specific patterns varied widely. In my first attempt at using the Index, I discovered a mistake in the page number for "Jasper" (p. 156, not p. 158), but have generally been glad I added this paperback to my library.

This book stinks. The index is totally wrong. You can't even find what you are looking for because it is divided into basic categories. When I look at the index for a particular pattern it refers me to a page that isn't even close. The publisher apparently wasn't looking at the same book.

Very nice book for beginning collectors. The pictures and designs shown on the glass are listed in ABC order for you to find. Animals, Birds, Circles,Diamonds etc. Also the glass companies are listed and dates they were in production. That was interesting for me as I travel to various areas of the country. No price guide in this book.

There are better books for the money. Hand drawn examples do not come anywhere near close to actual pictures. The layout is logical, as in -- diamonds, circles, etc., but the actual information provided was not very helpful. This book will be one of the first to go as my library expands.
