This e- book on style is very helpful for all ladies to read even if one feels they already know quite a bit. It covers an array of sections including looks, makeup, posture, and conversation/phone etiquette. Because impressions mean so much this will really help you feel more confident and comfortable when around others you do not know and also help you stand out in the crowd. The necessity of good eye contact and making others feel very important adds to charm and is attractive. Too important is remembering peoples names and allowing others to talk about themselves as you listen attentively. Along with proper standing posture other types of posture is covered including sitting, driving, and sleeping( which will help align the spine). There is very helpful advice on accessories and makeup. Accessories do matter and the size of them worn should be relative to one's body size. For makeup it's good to know that evening makeup shade should not be the same as morning/day shade and you will be taught tips you need to know regarding this.Various etiquette mannerisms are covered including proper introductions, table manners, and phone etiquette. For the value price of this book these tips are invaluable and can lead to favor or promotion on the job. It separates one from the crowd in a favorable way. I highly recommend this book.
I LOVED this book! The author kept the tone of the book light - like having a chat with a friend - and dispensed some amazing and insightful advice at the same time. In particular, I love her definition of style and class - everyone should learn and live by it. The book was well-organized, easy to read, and very helpful. I am looking forward to reading more from this author!
In no time was I smiling at strangers and walking with the proper posture. I noticed how happy it made everyone around me for myself to be happy. I think this book not only taught me how to be graceful, but it also taught me to find my inner lady.
What I liked in this book:- The first two chapters dedicated to charm are great. I enjoyed the story about Tamara de Lempicka and I agree with the author about charm being something that should always be present in our life even if we are not in company. The tips about the art of conversation are also very useful.- Liked the beauty tips. This chapter is well-developed and since I'm a fan of home-made remedies, I enjoyed the recipes given and tried some of them with good results.- The fashion tips were also nice :) I appreciated the no-pain heels guide, I really think I need it! :)- The step-by-step guide to host a dinner party. It seems to be easy enough and it's good to have everything listed in a chronological order so that one doesn't have to stress before such events. What I think it could be improved:- In the section about travelling, I'd have like a more extensive list about the outfits to wear in Rome, Paris and London. :) would have been nice :)- The section about "How to be charming at work" should be a little longer!!Resume: I found this book charming and really worth its price!
This book was such a lovely surprise! From the “Royal treatment” to the tips on how to be a good host, from fashion to beauty, from traveling to how to start a conversation, everything is easy to read and really useful. I feel already more confident. Great book for a very convenient price.
It's like going to charm school in just a few jam-packed pages! We women can get tongue-tied and knock-kneed in social situations, and I'm just as nervous as any other woman can be when attending big do's, but this book has now given me confidence that I'm quite impatient to be invited someplace posh, hehe. And not only does it cover etiquette, it also starts with giving you self-confidence by teaching you how to connect to people. If you think about it, our fear of social situations comes from being out of place and a wallflower-- well, Eliza Chamber takes care of that by teaching you to break the ice-- wait, what ice? That's how simple it is, really. By acting like we're friends with people, they do become our friends. It's great, learning all these tricks on magnetizing people. That's charm. It's all here. From how to dress for different occasions to how to elegantly talk on the phone. For a short book, it's sooo worth the money.
I have to admit, I'm impressed at how much this book has opened my eyes to the world of elegance and what it means to walk the walk and talk the talk as a true lady in our modern world. Eliza Chamber does a fantastic job at outlining the pitfalls that most women succumb to when stepping into the role of lady'ness. Indeed, the most important jewel I've taken away from this read is that I have the power to transform my life for the better and become more empowered as a woman. Charm is in the details and this book is chock full of them! Great read.
OMG, I wish I had read a book like this at 23! This is the most practical, all-encompassing book on how to be a modern lady that I have ever read. I know nothing about Eliza Chambers except she knows what she's talking about! It covers everything, general good manners, manners for the hostess, manners for the guest, manners for the traveller, manners for the office worker. Also excellent advice on skin, hair, makeup and wardrobe.I highly recommend this book.
