The great thing about this book is that it will get you through 95% of wine lists out there - even in NYC. Unless you're at a place that employs someone especially for their wine list, this book will get you through it, and you may even know more after reading it than the manager or owner who probably chose those wines - or even worse, the rep who just unloaded what they needed to sell. That being said, this book doesn't de-mystify, it explains, in very good format, the keys to understanding what you're going to get when you order a glass or bottle at your neighborhood restaurant. Wine isn't a mystery, it's a process, and this book walks you through it with ease. This is as clear and concise as can be, yet is super-informative. You want something refreshing and light? Probably not a California wine, my friend. All you need to do is keep this info from the book handy, or better yet, know and understand it, and you'll be able to order and buy with confidence and ease. Too many wine books out there make it difficult - this one doesn't. Do yourself a favor and read it so you don't order the same old stuff and get frustrated with it being wrong for what you want.
It is a short book but dense. The author really knows what she is talking about. It helps you know and understand the basics of wine and wine pairings. It made me appreciate wine more. Now I am aware of the best pairings for different kinds of wine. I know which wine to get for a certain food.An authoritative book on a difficult subject. The author's writing style is easy. The ideas are refreshing like lower alcohol wines. I appreciate that the author shared her secrets in wine.This book is a complete guide to wines. It filled my thirst about getting knowledge about the subject. It gives you the foundation you need to be a wine expert. This is recommended to wine lovers.
I always envy my friends whenever they can give interesting "did-you-knows" on wines. I am a wine lover but but I never had the chance to study interesting facts about it before. I am lucky to stumble upon this kindle book because it taught me a lot when it comes to wine. Wines indeed are popular and for me, a person who has ideas about it is smart. I wanted to learn how to identify a wine's age by just tasting it! Good thing I found this book!

Whenever I get the chance to drink a wine especially during holidays, there are always questions in my mind about wines like, how it's made, why it differs in color, and taste? And all those questions were answered with this very informative book. Now I can go to the wine store and will definitely buy one and pair it to my favorite pasta or chinese food. Definitely will share all about wine pairing to my culinary arts students.
A great book, about wine secrets, you can be able to learn a lot of secrets in this book about wine different flavors and other contents found in different wines and the various names they are called. It's a nice book you can use the book to learn more about wine preparation.
Tom Kalani did a splendid piece of write up, i see it more like a guide to getting the best of wines using the special senses such as taste, smell and just by looking.I appreciate her good work, now i can spend my money on good wine and not regret afterwards.
