This is by far the worst textbook I have ever purchased. Aside from its rediculous suggested retail price of $200, which I will not get into, the text is so confusing and not a very good fit for an Intro to Business Law class.The text is loaded with so many densely written pages of unusually small print. Not only did I have to pull out a pair of reading glasses to read it but then I started to doubt my reading skills and ability to understand what I have been trying to process.This text is not set up with a study guide, it doesnt point out any terms and concepts in a way that might guide and teach you and absolutely does not include any sort of end of the chapter recap or review. It just delves right into cases without providing a logical structure or guide. I have spent almost as much time on Wikipidea as i have trying to understand what i am reading. It is extremely confusing and I caution anyone who has an Intro to Bus class with an instructor who is not very clear, doesnt like to elaborate in their lectures, and expects you to be independent in general to forget about this purchase and find an instructor who knows how to select a textbook that will acutally provide an education instead of a nervous breakdown.
Purchased this book for an MBA class and wasn't looking forward to it, especially given the thickness of the text... I ended up really enjoying the class and the book. It is very well organized, easy to read, and includes countless real-life applications.
This is the second time I have had to order this book, because about six months ago I thought I was done taking business law classes and got rid of my first copy. This book arrived in pristine condition, no rips, no torn pages, binding barely looks creased. Was completely wowed!
I read this book for a MBA Business Law class and I found the authors to be very inconsistent throughout the book. Some sections were written about average and some sections were just plain bad or very poorly organized. The book doesn't have a very good outline to help you understand the material and doesn't provide enough charts to help visual learners understand the subject. The authors could have been a lot more concise in their writing and could have made the book a lot more easy on student's backs and not waste so much paper to print this book. The authors need to write in a way to help the student learn and not confuse them with brand new lingo and a poorly organized structure to the material.
Dear :I am so happy to had ordered Business Law by Mallor/Barnes/Bowers/Langvardt.I love it!!!A Law book is by all means an investment.Information is so useful for life in the real world.If a student had moved to Los Angeles for a career attempt in the entertainment industry, the book is a quantom light that help the student to get out of the cave.Awareness and tips about how to behave, and defend oneself in such a dreadful City of Angeles is one of the books raison de etre and my personal goal.I am so excited that will keep taking classes about Law but will be in another college.Santa Monica College does not have more courses about law on campus.Business Law 5 and 6 are the only classes here, and sure I will take them both.Next month will order the study guide for the book which seems can be useful.Thanks for your help with enlightening the mind of the student.Perhaps my request will be to add to the book more true cases in relation to Corporate Law in LA, CA.I would love to add a video review but now do not have the means to include the material since use the college labs.Sincerely,Liliana Prina
This book was assigned as a Master class for Organizational Management. It was too heavy and was a burden to manage, however has useful material and reference for Business law.
We used this book in business law class at Wharton. It's a very detailed account of legal concepts and rules. A lot of good cases.The reason I only gave it two-star rating is for its total lack of proper organization. The text is a collection of relevant topics which authors made no effort to link into a coherent whole. There is no flow of ideas or logics between subjects. Like other reviewers pointed out, the book would benefit greatly from adding chapter summaries and introductions.Another short coming is the tone of the text. It's strictly legal-talk. I guess it is necessary for law school students, but it is a totally unproductive burden for business school students who are interested in the concept in stead of the practice itself.I can not say I like this book.
I was so happy I could get this book for 98% less than it was available at our campus bookstore. The book itself is in really good condition
