Bob's logo is A Chip off the Old Block, but I didn't find the chip or the block, same as the book, anything special. About 50% of the book is pictures of typical marbles, and the other 48% gives additional info about them in Part II. It would have been better to have combined both sections because readers don't bother looking up things in the back. There are also some indices, the remaining 2%, about auction numbers, which can be used to check trends in prices on something called CyberAuction Lots. I'm especially interested in what Bob has to say about machine made marbles. This is where the big controversies rage, and he's the best here. Hand made marbles are a snap to figure out. Unfortunately, this book does little to clear any of this up. It has a lot of pictures of nice marbles and that's all. Just another confusing marble book.

I have found anything authored by Robert Block to be helpful. Whether you are buying in bulk to resale, or buying just what you really like for your collection. You need to know what you have and what it is worth. Each edition has some old and some new. It's smart to get several editions. You'll learn so much more. Everytime I go out the door. I grab one of my books, just in case I find myself just sitting around.
