What I like about this book is that it's organized by function therefore I don't have to look thru pages and pages of the data to find what I need . I have other books to provide more detail when I need it - but this one gets me there faster
An excellent "how to" book which truly starts with the very basics. If you are a "dummy," then this is the book for you. It starts with the assumption that the reader knows very little about the iPhone, then progresses to more difficult concepts. I started knowing nothing about the iPhone, but now after reading this book, feel quite competent.
I bought this book 'by mistake' along with another book on iPhone . I think this book is much better, well written and easier to understand. I am 72 and am really into my gadgets. I was able to program the things I use quite quickly. The 'other' book was not as well organized. I made a happy mistake.
This is a good book for semi-dummies like me. I'm familiar with basic technology terms and concepts, but knew almost nothing about the iPhone. The book is generally well organized with summary ("getting started") information first, followed by chapters containing more detail. I've only gotten into portions of the detail so far since I'm now comfortable with daily use. Some of the later chapters get a little bogged down, but contain useful info. The author is perhaps a bit over enthusiastic at times in his gushing admiration of the iPhone design, but that doesn't reduce the usefulness of the book - and admittedly, there are some cool features. He also does a pretty good job of introducing new concepts to those who are unfamiliar. I recommend the book.

IPhone For Dummies is a great book, however there is so much information that you can easily become overwhelmed. In order to make use of the huge amount of information that is available I suggest that you set aside some dedicated time for reading the contents.
PROS: Very complete. CONS: Difficult to use for non-techie folks who may have common sense nomenclature or use street terms and logic. When my new iPhone rang I didn't know what to do to answer it, buut nowhere in the index is the term "answering phone" listed. After searching for over 15 minutes I did find my answer! Why can't they use common sense logic in organizing the material?
The "iPhone for Dummies" book has been very useful and well worth the Kindle edition price. My daughter who has used various iPhones for years asked "How do you know all of this stuff that I don't?" My answer: "I'm a Dummy!"
