I'm only on page 17 and loving this book! Bell explains each topic in a clear, light manner. I'm surprised that it took me so long to find this book; but, I'm thrilled that I finally own it. The ONLY reason that I'm just on page 17 is that I'm annotating in the margins and reading slowly because I'm afraid I will miss some vital piece of information. There are screen shots of database interfaces and examples to try as you read. Additionally, CURRENT databases are used throughout the book. This is a great book for those in library school and those with less than five years out of school. (Of course it's great for anyone who just wants to learn more about searching databases also.)Warning: If you are an old hand in the field and judgmental of complex information written in clear language without hubris, this may not be the text for you.

Don't get me wrong this is a very well-written book. It's informative, current, and even entertaining. If you need this book, though, get it in a physical format. This is my first time buying and reading a book on 's Kindle app, and every time I need to access this book it's been a frustrating experience. Clicking to go on to the next page will take you back to the last chapter. It will randomly resize itself so passages aren't in the same place. And, even though I've had the book for a few months now, it will take a while to load between pages and navigation.Maybe it's just that the Kindle app doesn't work all that well with Windows 10, but I regret not buying the paperback version of this book as then I would have given it five stars. If you like using Kindle, by all means, go ahead. But if you're a e-book scrub like me, you're better off with the print version.

Great text with clear explanations - appropriate for graduate level work. Well-written - not too technical or dry. A very useful tool!

This book is an important tool for all librarians to have on hand!

Excellent book! Makes searching a little more clearer.
