This is an updated look at terrarium making and maintaining. Great photos! They do add a lot of succulents in their terrariums that most books do not. Most of them are open terrariums as well. A fabulous beginner book!
What a gifted designer! Megan shares her brilliant tips on how to plant each creation, in clear to understand language. As a Florist making "Sand Art Terrariums in the early 70s I would have loved to have had this as a guide! The Photography of the how to's and plants is the best ever! Every Plant lover should add this book to their library!
What an enchanting book! I love following The Zen Succulent on FB and instagram so when I saw they were releasing a book I was like, "Yes, please I'll take two". I find terrariums, air plants and succulents to be so beautiful but I consistently skimmed through pinterest tutorials to maintain them. I am not exaggerating when I say that in the past I've had to say "farewell" to over 8 different succulent plants in a span of 6 months. I love greenery I just lack the talent to keep it flourishing, which meant I had to invest in gaining a bit more know-how. "The Modern Terrarium Studio" was able to offer just that in a delightful, thorough and creative way. This book is lovely and the most important part is, it is useful. Step-by-step instructions with a clear description of the plants and the tools you'll need to build a proper terrarium and why you need them made me appreciate the terrarium building process! And it seems for the more experienced terrarium builder it would offer inspiration and new ideas! I have now built a proper terrarium for my bathroom, my office desk and one for my entryway at home! All of which are alive and well! I definitely recommend this book and will likely give it as a gift in the future!
Lots of great ideas for creating mini gardens in glass and other mediums!
I never once considered myself to be a crafty person. I've dabbled in things like knitting and painting, but usually with the instruction of someone else. However, with this book, u feel the confidence to create my own miniature landscapes!The photography in this book is absolutely stunning. I like how the majority of the photos have a top-down perspective so you can see how the author (Megan) placed each individual piece. I think it also provides a great starting point for beginners like me, who are unable to come up with their own designs yet, or are uncertain as to how each element of a terrarium can coexist together so beautifully.Another part of this book I enjoyed is how Megan provides a photo and the name of the different types of succulents out there. I am fond of purple, so now I know exactly which plant I need to find to complete my vision for my terrarium landscape.All in all, I am very glad to have purchased this book! If you are looking for a very detailed and instructive book involving plants this should be your go-to. Happy terrarium making!

The author did a great job showing step by step instructions with photos...I borrowed this book from my library through Overdrive, but am going to buy it in hardcover! I am excited to make some of the terrariums in the Spring!
