All About Coffee: A History Of Coffee From The Classic Tribute To The World's Most Beloved Beverage

The original homage to the world's most extraordinary drink! In 1922, William H. Ukers wrote the definitive work on coffee. As the founder of The Tea and Coffee Trade Journal, an industry magazine still active today, he spent seventeen years traveling the world and uncovering everything there was to know about both the bean and the beverage. From its historic roots and the drinking customs of different countries to its effects on the mind and the preparation of the perfect cup, this book captures all the rich and complex history of coffee. Filled to the brim with robust facts, aphorisms, and more, All About Coffee culls the best of Ukers's research and observations sip after sip, page after page.

All about coffee re-defines the word ALL. The word abridged is more accurate. I have been doing extensive work on coffee for months in preparation for a patent application. I have downloaded 100's of times more information than that book contained. UKER'S original text (the unabridged version) is available on Google at no cost. This book was a waste of my time and money. If I could get my money back I would take it in second.Ken Buschmann

The information contained in this book is perhaps the most complet and concise information on the subject. While it was written nearly 75 years ago there is no other work that is more complet. If I could rate it a 12 I would have. A must for any coffee profeciadnoda.

This is a legend book for the connaisseurs of coffee. Is a fortune this edition. I am an economist and researcher and I have used this book in my writings. I recommended it for people interesed in coffee

The only thing about this book I don't like is the size. For some reason, they printed the book HUGE with large borders around all sides of the reprinted pages. This makes it difficult to read and VERY heavy.Informationally, it's a reprint of the classic book on coffee. You won't be learning about the latest trends, but you will learn about the history of coffee drinking around the world and see some well reproduced pictures showing that. One big drawback to the cheap Kindle version, is that those pictures are gone. Without them, you really miss 90% of the impact. So if you don't mind the size and weight, definitely pick this classic up.

Dated, but well written. Basically if the average coffee snob read this book, they would cease drinking any coffee from a big name company. And buy only fresh roast from a local supplier.......or roast their own

Much of this book contains dated information, two years post WWI, however there is a fascinating wealth of botanical and historical information about the spread of coffee agriculture from Africa to the rest of the world, and the political and social implications of the rise of the coffee house in Europe and the United States. It is remarkably detailed, and I enjoyed it very much.

I was expecting a condensed history of coffee, but this book is like an encyclopedia! Don't get this book if you want something to read while waiting. Also, I recommend heading over to Project Gutenberg to get the whole book with all the diagrams and tables properly formatted if you are interest in this book as an historical resource.

Bought as a birthday present for my son who is already on the path to becoming an experienced Barista. He was thrilled to get the book and finds the book very informative and is already sharing the knowledge held within this essential manual with fellow baristas. Very fast postage to Australia and much cheaper than I can buy here. The book was wrapped thoughtfully and arrived in A1 condition. Great book would recommend to anyone interested in knowing all about coffee.
