Fortnum and Mason is one of my favorite shops in the whole world. I love everything about them, especially the Teas and delicious confections. I bought this book not really knowing how well the recipes would translate, but boy am I glad I did. Living in the USA it costs a pretty penny to have items shipped to me from the UK. With this book I've been able to recreated some of my favorite items in my own kitchen. the recipes really do turn out just like the store product. I've had so many great comments on the rose biscuits, which is an absolute favorite of mine as well. The recipes are in British measurements, but they are easy enough to convert. This book also has a really interesting read on the history of the store. It is also nice and compact. A tiny little book full of timeless recipes.

I bought this book as a gift for my daughter, who had just visited London and stopped for tea at F&M. The gift was a great hit. The book is really nicely done--as a tribute to tea at F&M should be. I'm very happy to give it 5 stars and I think the bookseller also deserves 5 stars for the fine service and excellent condition of the product.

See the preview. That's the Kindle version cover (not the same as on the book), some illustrations, but when you get to the recipes in the Kindle book you're flying blind, and would be hard pressed to recreate them from the descriptions alone in some cases. Quite disappointing that they chose to cheap out for the Kindle version, right down to the cheap no one cares cover image for it. I wouldn't have bought it had I known. In the description where you can click to see images of the book, keep in mind those AREN'T in the Kindle version. Not one recipe has an image in the Kindle book.I returned the Kindle book for a refund and will buy the hard copy book.I hate when they do this. They shouldn't be allowed to do this and sell on .

Warning: contents may be excellent for your health. Fortnum's T-book will not disappoint as it captures the quality and tone found in Piccadilly It is a true delight in every sense of the word: if you never set foot in a kitchen you would find the volume full of delicious and imaginatively creative morsels you would want to share with those nearest and dearest. It is a great gift to one's self and to one's hostess who appreciates quality, the refined palate and life, the energy and dedication to maintain same, plain old tradition, and the value of a generous spirit. It would be at home equally in the kitchen library or at a bedside where thoughts of sugarplums are real. Do not resist. Your heart will melt and your senses will be heightened. There will always be Fortnum's. Thanks be!

This is a beautiful little book; a nice addition to any tea book collection. There are some wonderful recipes here, and nice photographs. Fortnum & Mason Royal Blend is my favorite English tea blend; however, it doesn't seem to be available in the U.S. Perhaps for that reason, the recipes in this book measure the ingredients in grams; no ounces or cups. Baking temperatures are given in degrees Fahrenheit (as well as C and gas mark). Although small, this is a quality book that most tea lovers would enjoy.

Made the plain scones and three of the tea sandwich recipes for a bridal shower and all got raves. Could have more photos, but overall very pleased. I don't consider it a problem but be aware that that recipes feature metric measures (including many baking ingredients measured by weight, as is standard outside the US) and European ingredients like self-raising flour.

I really enjoyed the "Taking Tea" section, it lists the various types of teas, the flavors of teas, what to add to the teas to enhance it's flavor, and the food pairings for the teas. This book treats tea like fine wine. The recipes that are included appear to be taken directly from F&M's tea service. The book is bound in the signature F&M blue with gold interior pages, gorgeous. I seems the publication was intentionally made in this small size to make the book more affordable, I can take it with me where ever I go. It's a lovely little book and I look forward to making treats from it.

With its' distinctive "eau de nil" (water of the nile) blue-green cover and subtle gold lettering, this little book not only traces the history of taking tea, but also the history of Fortum & Mason. There are wonderful recipes like plum and almond tartlets and exquisitely photographed pages with beautiful china plates and tea cups. One interesting fact for Americans is that after the Boston Tea Party in 1773, Fortum & Mason continued to ship its tea to North America to both "Loyalists and Republicans alike". Even a war could not stop the Americans love of tea as tea symbolized wealth and status.Fortnum & Mason has long been connected to the Royal Family and in March 2012, Queen Elizabeth II, the Dutchess of Cornwall (Camilla), and the Dutchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton), spent the day at Fortnums sampling treats and inspecting the Fortnum tins of food being sent to the troops abroad. The Queen even wore a matching eau de nil suit. All of this adds to the ambiance of Fortum & Mason as a luxury store which still holds royal warrants as far back as Queen Anne and remains today as the "grocers, provisions merchants and tea merchants" to the Royal household. This book would make a marvelous gift for anyone interested in the history of tea, recipes for delicious tea treats and in the history of a famous store that has been in London's Piccadilly since 1707.
