The Hot Wheels listings did not include variations nor did it include limited edition cars. The Match Box listings did not list the names of the series of cars. The Johnny Lightning section is very limited. Pictures were very limited in all sections.
This book tried to cover alot of the major Die-cast cars, Matchbox, Johnny Lightings etc., but the Early Hot Wheel info was what I was most into and that was fun and I learned alot of stuff I never would have known otherwise. The beginners tips are a must for collectors expierienced and new. The variations are countless on these cars and would be impossible to list all of them, however if you collect only the 'Redline Years' of hot wheels it's a pleasure to see these cars and it's a good companion to other books you may have. Photos of rare color combo's and proto-types are cool. For the hard core Redline collectors only.
Very Easy to use. Very Clearly written. The only thing I didn't care for in this book is that to some degree it only covers the most popular cars. It doesn't give information on the amount produced. It also doesn't give any information on the amount of variations of newer cars. Clearly this is not written for the advanced collector
I felt that the book showed the best samples of car colors than any other book of this type that I have read. And as collectors know, this is very important when judging its value.
Way off the mark on Johnny Lightning and it's no excuse that the book is 18 years old. You would still expect pricing to be proportionally correct which it isn't. The only good reference for JL's is Tomarts and it's 16 years old. O'brien's Toys Cars and Trucks isn't bad either for JL's but only dedicates 2 pages. I gave it two stars due to the good color pictures and the price I paid: $2.54.
no index, very few pictures, no discriptions of cars or variations of cars . it has a lot of cars listed by the year and prices for them. vary hard to find a car you are looking for if you dont know the year ,make or model
