I've always been fond of the Magic Tree House series as these were the books that made my son a reader! However, after dozens of books, my son started to get tired of the same series and showed no interest in reading the last several books.Inspite of this, I had to buy this book when I saw the cover - a Sea Serpent - that had to be intriguing! Dreaded mom that I am - I made my son read this book! He protested for about one minute - and then he was hooked! While the first 20 books or so of the series are for younger readers, the last ones have "grown" and appeal to the 9 - 12 year old range. Full of adventure - this series just keeps getting better! If your child thinks they've outgrown this series - pick up a copy of this book - you never know - they may just find themselves hooked once again on the magical adventures of Jack and Annie!
This book contains all three elements deemed essential for a good fantasy story: magic, mythology, and medeival setting. Additionally, the story concerns two likable characters that kids easily relate to. This book is not rated in the top 200 sellers for nothing, so apparently a lot of other readers have enjoyed it. For magical fun and adventure, I highly recommend "Summer of the Sea Serpent" for readers aged 9-12.
This is a fun book and my six-year old has really enjoyed it! He said he is going to keep it forever! This story was easy enough for him to read but challenging enough to keep him engaged. He was wanting more as he went along in the story and became enthralled in its plot. It was truly heartwarming to see him perk up, get so excited about being able to read mostly by himself and to see he book through to the end. This book has now gone from just a children's novel to a piece of family history :)
Hello Reader! Summer of the Sea Serpent is magnificent and all over stupendous. This story is sort of scary and adventurous at the same time. This is when Jack and Annie need to get the sword of light for Merlin. They see many different things. They also meet a new friend and her name is Kathleen. That is all I will tell you! Good Luck Reading!!by, Jeremy
This book is filled with magic, fun, and fantsay, three things most preteens can't resist. As an elementary school teacher and mother, I think all kids from 9-13 will enjoy this book. (...)
First of all I like the Merlin Missions because they are longer than the regular Magic Tree House books. Summer of the Sea Serpent was exciting because there was a giant sea serpent. Is he good or bad? Read for yourself to find out!!!
This is the second review I wrote for these series books. The book arrives yesterday, and my son already finished two of them in one day. Strongly recommend!I always order books from directly, who delivers books with lightening speed.
This is another winner. My grandson got turned on to reading through her thoroughly exciting and informative series. He knows I keep several more on hand. When he is finished reading one, he is anticipating the next. This is another special one in her series. I read them too so we can talk about each exciting adventure. Keep writing Ms. Osborne. You have several more loyal followers.
