If you have a child who is apprehensive about going to the hospital, this is a good book. It teaches children about how a hospital functions and why we need it.

My brother used to hate visting the docter, and now after he has read the book he can't wait to go and see him again. This book helps little children like me go to the docter with no worries and know that it is for our own good. I recomemd this book to every little kid from a toddler to bigger kids.

If this were any dog other than Clifford, it would have received 3 stars instead of 4, but my 3-year-old is a big Clifford fan and I am a fan of Scholastic and PBS.The story is about puppy Clifford (my daughter found him very cute!) sneaking into a basket of cookies that Emily Elizabeth and her mother are taking to Emily's grandmother in the hospital. Naturally, tiny Clifford gets into all kinds of mischief before being discovered and taken home. My daughter laughs and finds him very silly. She has fun with this book.However, I am a bit surprised that so many are having good luck using this to prepare their children for a hospital stay. I am surprised because the doctors and nurses are who Clifford has to hide from throughout the tale. Once they find him, they are not happy that he was there (obviously). Plus, unless a therapy dog, kids can't bring their puppies to visit them.Whether reading this for a hospital stay or just for fun, Clifford is sweet, simple, and good natured fun for the family. He is a welcome addition to our home library any day.

While this is a cute story, I think it would do almost nothing to actually prepare a child for what it is like to visit or stay in the hospital. It might be okay for preparation to visit someone in the hospital, but definitely not if you're trying to explain to your child what THEIR hospital stay will be like. There are much better books out there for that purpose.

the book itself is probably great, but something is wrong with this *e*book in particular- it will not successfully download on my ipad, iphone, or kindle 3g. bought a hundred books before, and several after just fine from . Just not this one. email support has told me they need to work with me in a chat session which i have not had time to do, so your milage may vary, but i definitely had a disappointed kid with this one.

I have to go to the hospital a lot,I wish Clifford could come with me when I go. I think most kids would like a puppy to take to the hospital with them

My little neighbor used to hate going to the doctor's but when I went to babysit her, and read her this book, she exclaimed that she wanted to go there more. I truly am touched by the fact that she wanted to go then. I reccomend this book to little kids because they are normally the most afraid of going to the mean old doctor's office. "Enchanting"

Cute book,if you are preparing for a hospital visit and have other more informative books,this is a good one to purchase just for a light read-but still keeping with the subject you want your child to be prepped for.
