Vintage Travel Posters Postcards (Dover Postcards)

Based on travel posters of the early twentieth century, these nostalgic postcards conjure up a dozen dreamy vacation getaways. Rendered in bold styles inspired by Fauvism, Art Deco, and Surrealism, their destinations include the New York World's Fair of 1939, Atlantic City, the beaches of California and the Mediterranean, Italy, France, and other exciting locales.

The packet contains 12 postcards, approximately 6 inches x 4 inches each. All cards designs are vertical with a white border on all edges. The design colors are vivid, not muted and not overly bright. The print reverse side is standard 50/50 address/message postcard format. Good purchase.

Out of the 12 postcards there were only two that I really liked. The rest were just ho hum. There is a 1/4" or more white margin around all the cards. They are also on very thin card-stock, not sure they would hold up to international shipping which is what I purchased them for. I send a lot of PC's through postcrossing. There are much better sets here on than these. Check out these sets you may like them better; Norman Rockwell, The Secret of the Old Clock, New Yorker, several others. I wouldn't buy these ones again. If I had seen them in person I would not have purchased them.

There are travel posters from the US as well as other countries. Interesting mix, though not all the cards are worthy to be sent in my opinion. The cards are on the thin side, but I think they're still thick enough to survive being mailed.

These postcards are beautiful. I wanted to use them under a glass top table, and they work perfectly. You won't be sorry if you try them!

The "Pennsylvana" postcard featured on the cover has a lot of nice detail, but most of the other cards are far less interesting. Of 12 total, I found only 3 I liked well enough to send. They do tear cleanly out of the book (no ragged edges), but the card stock is pretty thin and the printed pictures just look cheap. There is an advertisement on the back cover for a ClipArt website, these cards definitely look like samples of what they're probably offering there. You could definitely do better to download your own travel pictures onto card stock and use those as postcards.

A nice collection of postcards that I used to send birthday greetings and stuff. One thing I liked about the postcards is that they came out of the book without one edge containing little stubs from ripping it out. Instead, all four sides were nice and smooth. The cards are smaller than a 4x6 size, so you can use USPS postcard stamps with them.

Very nice set of cards that hearken back to the romantic, adventurous days of travel. Full of atmosphere and classiness, they make a fine addition for collectors as well as the casual sender.

I framed 6 of these and intend to use the rest for Postcrossing. The quality and variety is excellent. Very pleased.
