GREAT BOOK! Got it for husband's birthday. Before giving it to him, used a couple devotionals from it during a 5 sister trip. Husband read it non-stop (almost) from cover to cover. We've shared it with my son. We've both purchased more copies to share with other friends and relatives.Steve Chapman is a very good author from my perspective - it's written through personal experiences and extremely easy for the reader to project himself into the situation. Very humorous and very Christian. Highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys light reading, likes to laugh out loud, and loves the Lord!
Steve is a great writer, a man of profound spiritual insight, and a wonderful story teller. Combine these three elements and you have a devotional for men that will inspire and encourage you to zero in on the things in life that really matter. And, you don't even have to be a hunter to enjoy the stories and meditations. This padded, hardcover format is perfect to keep in your briefcase, on your desk, in the car or on your nightstand. You will refer to it often and enjoy every minute!
This is an outstanding book to read. I bought this one as a gift for my brother. I own my own copy that I bought a year ago. It is several short stories that ate Hunter can read while sitting in a deer stand or a duck blind or out fishing. It has a lot of Christian contact. You won't be disappointed by this book.
I got this book for Christmas (Preface: I'm obsessed with Jesus and read good Christian literature a lot) and figured I'd read it. After a first few pages I realized it would not be a very strong (doctrinally accurate and challenging) book. God still used it to speak to me on some days, but overwhelmingly the (especially in the beginning and end) the material is "American Christianity" and kinda dry and useless stories. Some of the days actually really irked me- when Chapman would totally take scripture out of context unnecessarily. I would not suggest the book to anyone. Buy yourself or someone else Your Utmost for His Highest or something of more substinance if you want to be filled up and nurtured with a dailey devotional. (Also, make your first priority a daily bible plan! A devotional is secondary in my opinion)
If you have a hunter in your family, they will really be able to relate to this devotional.....even if they aren't believers! My husband has so enjoyed having a devotional that speaks to him on his level and through something he loves so much......hunting!
I purchased this for a bedtime read with my husband. It's almost perfect. Yes, I'm changed the tenses on the prayers so they aren't referring to one person, but that's my only quibble. It's great to end the day with a thought from the outdoors and God. And I'm happy that there are so many of them. There are 75 devotionals, so they will easily last almost 1/4 of the year. I love the stories from the forest to read at night in the city. And these are short enough to read without falling asleep!
Purchased as a gift for my husband he loved this devotional! We had seen it at several stores and he kept mentioning it so I went ahead and ordered it from here for its great price. Perfect for the hunter or someone who loves to watch hours of hunting on television. Great way to learn about Jesus while using every day examples.
Great daily devotional for the hunter. My 15 yr. old son enjoys reading it, before bed at night and if another adult can capture the attention of a teenager, and help him focus a minute on the LORD than that's 5 stars for me. It's also well written and different days have different presentations, such as short songs or just thought, or experiences he has had in the woods so it keeps the reader interested. My teen hunter has asked for more of Steve's devotionals to read.
