I wish I had read this book 20 years ago! However, it's never too late to start being the father you were intended to be. This book lays it out in a most simple way. Quick read and a MUST read. You will want to order a box of these and give to all the dads you know, I did!

I ordered, received, and RETURNED this item.... If I had known it was a "snippet" of Wild At Heart (a book I already OWN!) I never would have purchased it... the price printed on the cover as the retail price was $2.99.... I paid $6.95 (when included with a couple of other books: I got free shipping....)Disappointed and awaiting the refunded amount to show on my credit card...You should just get the WHOLE J. Eldredge books -- the Wild At Heart is def. an AMAZING book and ALL fathers (and mothers, for that matter!!) should really enjoy the God-given wisdom and enjoyable stories and anecdotes in many of Mr. Eldredge's books! He is an incredibly gifted author and worth the cost of buying and reading the entire book...Unless you are intending to give this 'booklet' to a new father to whet his appetite for the whole book, I suggest you save your money.

John Eldredge is the author of numerous books, including WILD AT HEART, which sold more than two million copies and was used as the guide for hundreds of men's Bible study groups. He is one of many Christians who has recognized the value of fathers in raising children, and is not afraid to identify the differences between the genders and explain how they generate different needs. Eldredge demonstrates how understanding these needs and differences is essential to raising emotionally and spiritually healthy children. Each chapter (which includes "The Secret to Boys"; "What a Father Needs to Do"; "Healing Wounds"; and "It's Never Too Late") is only a few pages long yet is packed with the core of emotions that everyone has experienced as a result of their own relationship with their father. Whether it was wonderful and everlasting or non-existent and painful, there is no denying that the father/child relationship is perhaps the most life-shaping of all.In an age when "Who's Your Daddy?" has become a national joke, the existence of absentee, ineffectual and abusive fathers is just beginning to reap its consequences. Boys whose needs were not met by their fathers are growing up and becoming negligent parents as well. Many believe it is these unmet needs and resulting wounded spirits that are primarily responsible for creating the angry, frustrated and rebellious youth we see today. In his down-to-earth writing style, Eldredge uses many personal anecdotes, linking them to Scriptures that illustrate the source of his beliefs. He concludes that ultimately it is God the Father who provides the model for love and forgiveness so necessary in healthy relationships.YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES is sure to inspire those who read it to take action in their own lives. Whether your child is four or 40, it's never too late to begin healing. --- Reviewed by Maggie Harding

#1 best book ever written for dads! Moms will enjoy it too as it can help women see the value their husbands can offer their children. A father's role is vital to the development of their children and this book empowers men to see it and apply it. Best of all - it is very brief (like many men like) - takes only 20 minutes to read.

My title says it all....with regret....cause the best things in life really are simple and this little book is all you need to be the BEST dad in the world !By the way, it is never too late !Flyboy Stinson:~)

This little book is a great motivator. It helps all fathers understand what a great gift and opportunity we have been givenBut how lacking so many of us truly are. Unless we are willing to become students of parenting we will not be any better fathers than our fathers were. Unfortunately for many that's not very good. If you want to give your sons and daughters a wonderful gift that will last for generations to come and impact society in a powerfully positive way give them a great father. This little book is a great start.

If you haven't read Wild at Heart, you should just get that book instead of this. If you've already read Eldredge's most famous book, don't bother with this. It seems like it is basically a chapter out of that book published as a mini-booklet.

Excelente resumo dado pelo autor sobre aspectos muito importantes do ser pai. Awesome job done by John getting us to know the core what is important for fathers. I recommend it! If you looking for a quick starting point you found it.
