I ordered this as a gift for my Mom and her husband who throw a lot of parties. It was very well received. I flipped through it before I gave it to them and the drink recipes looked tasty. It didn't seem like there were too many hard-to-make recipes with specialty ingredients (bitters and such). It seemed more like a fun book for the home bartender than a posh cocktail book (which is a good thing, IMO). There were a lot of recipes that seemed like variations of one recipe. To me, that's not a bad thing because I'm not super adept at mixology and am not always sure which flavors will compliment each other. To a seasoned mixer who is more familiar with alcoholic concoctions, this book might be a little disappointing for that reason. Either way, I look forward to seeing this at my Mom's next party and flipping through to find a tasty drink to try!
This was smaller than I thought it was going to be. However the print inside is large and easy to read. It is the perfect book to stick in any bar nook or cranny. A great book that every bartender should have!!
I bought this to be included as part of a gift basket for a fund raiser. There are TONS of interesting recipes. I wish i was keeping it. They seem simple and easy to follow. This is a book of recipes - if you are looking for something that explains each kind of liquor and tastings - move on. I like that this is just a recipe book - if I want information, I can google it...
Purchased as a gift for my mother. My only complaint is I didn't realize the size of the book and how many drinks were in it. Several drinks per page in a small font. However the drinks range from normal to exotic. I know she is going to love the variety of drinks in this book. Great buy over all!
This book has a lot of cocktails to try and the recipes are simple. I love the simple design of this book, However, sometimes because the recipes are so simple, I find myself googling the recipe for the drink in order to get specific types of alcohol such as: dark rum vs Light rum. I guess the simplicity leaves more room for creativity, but it creativity can also make awful tasting drinks. Overall, its a good book to have in hand. I love the size.
This a great drink book. I love how everything is laid out. If you are looking for a specific drink or looking for a drink that uses something specific you have on hand. It is very easy to use/find. No blah, blah filler, stories, opinions, trivia....just drink recipes that are easy to find and follow.
First, the size/proportion of the book is odd. It is very thick (2 inches) but short and narrow (4x5 inches) which makes it a bit impractical (title humor aside, the book would have been better served taller and wider and about half as thick.That aside, there are indeed lots and lots of recipes. The liquor index in the back is a bit compressed, but very nice. The sheer number of recipes make this a nice reference book to look up drinks by name, but is so large that it is a bit daunting to try to find a drink you know you are going to like without lots of flipping around comparing recipes. (which is why the dimensions of the book get in the way)I'm not unhappy I own it, but I'd recommend getting books that go into more details about each individual cocktail.
I didn't realize how small the book actually was, however the recipes look great and are easy to follow! I'm happy I bought it.
