I purchased this book for a college course. I find it to be very well written and easy to understand. However, I believe that the author should have included, somewhere in the textbook, an organize location with several of the mathematical formulas required to complete the exercises.
Excellent tool. This product does some amazing things. Great interactive features with other programs like excel. Coming from MATLAB, there are some differences. There is no special code that needs to be learned. There are some special keystrokes though, but you can always use the menus if you don't know them. I've only used it for simple mathematical problems that apply to calculus, physics, and engineering, and it has handled them well. Hopefully it will continue to be a helpful tool. The book does not detail all of the softwares capabilities. You may have to search the website or other media to explore the software. The book is more of a starter guide to the program and it is very helpful in explaining how to get going.
This book is not a reference book for Mathcad. Rather, it is a book that will introduce the reader to some tricks and workarounds. It will increase the reader's knowledge in a relatively confined scope of Mathcad's capability. For those reasons, it is well worth a read.
The book is great...very good examples. But MathCad 14 has serious computational problems. Go back and use MathCad 13.
Prof. Pritchard has done a good job on including more in-depth information on moving data into and out of MathCAD as well as how to use the plotting aspects in a separate appendix. The CD helps with the introduction into MathCAD without having to get a student or full license right away.
