I had the pleasure of attending a lecture by the authors. At first I was very skeptical about the quality of information and amount of facts it would relay. I was disappointed with the book to be honest. But I also happen to be in the trenches of the 3D printing startup world. I run a consulting group that uses 3D CADs and 3D printers to create products for our clients. All of the issues that my team and I have fixed or ran into, we solved with lots of hours of tinkering and research. This book is a cheap sheet, that will bring pretty much anybody up to speed with working with low end FFF or FDM machines. Gives your a basic working knowledge of the industry and its applications. This book should be considered a gateway book to a more complex and lingo filled explanations/examples that other 3D books are filled with.Like I mentioned above, I personally was disappointed with the book but my new team members and non-technical co-founders nearly worship it. So I have to appreciated it for the fact that it allows my team and I to communicate more effectively, since I don't have to dumb down my tech talk to be understood.
Very informative. If you are new to 3d printing I would buy this book. If you want to know about the future of 3d printing this isn't for you but if you want to understand 3d printing, how it works and the types then I would buy this. This is a good first step to understanding 3d printing.
A great easy read book, that explains the workings of 3D Printers.I found the book very informative of all aspects of the different printer types and components.I couldn't put it down till I finished it!I'm now ready to build my own.
It presents the basics of 3d printing and covers many aspects that are crucial to choose the printer you should by. However, I think it is a little thin in thing you can make with each different kind of printer and material available.
If you have no knowledge of 3D printing than this book will provide a good basic foundation. How ever if you have basic knowledge than you will find the book very simple.
