I tried the "Better than Store Bought" White bread, as I was out of bread late Sunday evening and I needed some for my Monday brown bag lunch.My Welbilt bread machine came with some basic recipes in the instruction manual, and a separate recipe book. The recipes for basic white bread from those two sources use oil. The Wizardry book says to use butter. That's about the only difference for basic white bread. However, the results were fantastic! I didn't even use a separate bread pan and the oven, (as the recipes in the book recommend), I just let the machine do it's thing.Then, I tried the pizza dough with shredded parmesan cheese in the Two Pizza's recipe. Not Good! It was way too wet. I had to add another 1 1/2 cups of flour to make it dry enough to form into pizza. I was able to salvage the dough, but the recipe was wrong.I'll be trying more of the artisan recipes. The tips included in the book are great for non-bakers like me. Using a spoon to measure out the flour into a measuring cup, instead of just scooping it, (if you're not going to use or have a sifter).I'll keep trying more of the recipes.
There's nothing like the smell of homemade bread. This book lists many delicious, easy-to-make loaves, pizza dough recipes and classic favorites like "Cinammon Swirl Bread". Pictures are great! There's pictures so you know how it is suppose to look. No guess work. I highly recommend this book for new bakers.
