Chromecast User Guide is a great book to pick up if you've just gotten a Chromecast streaming device, or if you simply want to be in the know on every level! Really impressive in terms of information, and delivered in a way that can be easily understood and put into practice right away.The mention of how the user is able to add an 'emoji' add-on to Chromecast device names in Mac OS X and Windows 8, is right along side restoring the Chromecast to its default settings. One is fun, the other is useful, but both are very helpful to users wishing to get full functionality and enjoyment out of the device.Recently I wrote the book: Simple Guide to Over-the-Air Free TV, which explains to non-techy types how to cut the cord with cable or satellite TV, and supplement their programming with streaming media. In the book I mention using a Chromecast device, and in reading the Edwards' book I was pleased to learn new things specific to Chromecast that I will be applying to my own cord cutting lifestyle.Highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about streaming media via Chromecast devices!
I sure didn't. So I wasn't interested in buying one. But my partner insisted, so we did and then, well, the guide included with the Chromecast wasn't particularly helpful. Enter in the "Chromecast User Guide: Newbie to Expert in 1 Hour!". I thought, well, how can I go wrong with a title like that? Because Newbie I was, and Expert I needed to be.The absolute great thing about this wonderful book is that not only does it actually live up to the title, but there's also LOTS of helpful links scattered throughout so that you can actually go to the things that the authors write about! Talk about handy!Also, the authors offer a free monthly newsletter to keep you in the loop about the latest info on the device. I love it!I feel like, thanks to this book, I'm now an expert on getting the most out of my device. Many many thanks to the authors for doing all the legwork about Chromecast so I didn't have to.
Sadly, I'm not as tech savvy as I used to be in my youth. I've been seeing how much fun others are having using Roku and similar devices, but watching them do their setups I was worried about my own frustration factor kicking in.These devices aren't cheap to begin with, and therefore not something you want to buy and then give up on because you can't get it working.I'd heard of Chromecast and its ingenious dongle, but again, wasn't sure if it was for me. Much less expensive than the other devices I was tempted to buy, but kept putting it off, never able to find enough information to get me in my comfort zone.Enter this e-book, "Chromecast User Guide: Newbie to Expert in 1 Hour"--wow, everything I had been wanting to know about the Chromecast and how it works! The guide is written in a conversational manner, very easy to understand, even for the tech intimidated. The information provided is exceptional, not only walking you through setup, but also pointing out various apps, games and work-arounds for various devices to broaden the functionality of the Chromecast, far beyond entertainment only.The book was perfectly priced for someone like me who was curious about the Chromecast, but not quite ready to buy even given the device's low cost. It answered all my existing questions and opened my eyes to the versatility of the technology. Turns out I've already got everything I need to use Chromecast; now I can buy one with confidence.I'd recommend this book to anyone remotely interested in Chromecast and streaming. While of course it is aimed at helping the new user get the most out of their purchase, it also functions as enlightenment and encouragement for those of us sitting on the fence to take the plunge.
I purchased a Chromecast 3 months ago so that I can watch YouTube videos on my TV. I love my Chromecast but honestly, besides YouTube, I didn't know anything else about it. This guide was perfect and provided me with an user friendly guide to all that my Chromecast had to offer. Now I love my Chromecast even more! :)
Informative book. 1 chapter explains what the Chromecast does as well as the Apple TV device and the Ruku Device. After reading what each device does, I came to the conclusion that the Chromecast device was not what I was looking for. I thought that was very "fair minded" of the author to include this contrast of each device.
Easy to use and when I did have problems casting using my account, gave me the answer to my problem and told me how to solve it. That was after spending 1/2 hour with a tech from Cromecast that didn't know the answer.
I was expecting awesome secrets to be revealed accordign to the other reviewers but did not find anything new- it did NOT enable Chrome cast to do anything that the Google website for it already states- if you Don't use Chromecast in conjunction with one of their clearly stated websites: Utube, netflix, etc then it simply won't synchronize the audio with the visual- which is annoying. ALSO my husband had to tinker with the verizon modem box to get it to accept the Chrome cast- it doesn't work with every box - he is not even sure how he got it to work but he did....which means if you bring it on vacation with you- like to use netflix on a hotel tv - it might not work if it isn't compatible with the hotel modem- disappointing to me.
