If you have any aspirations about getting the most out of your Sonar X3 DAW, then do yourself a guaranteed favor and get Scott R.Garrigus' Sonar X3 Power, ASAP! It is your best option, period. This is my 4th Power book by Scott and even though I've been working with Sonar for 13-14 years, I wouldn't even bother to upgrade without getting his matching guide. No matter what kind of music you intend to make with Sonar X3, Scott's book will be your "assistant", in finding out how to accomplish the best sounding recordings that can be made with X3's powerful tool set and the entire range of it's long list of features. This is a very comprehensive guide to the Sonar X3 computer recording program. It's loaded with tips and tricks on how to get the most out of X3. It's an excellent reference book that you can use to look up how to do things when you have questions about the program. Very thorough. This book is a must have for any X3 user. After reading the book, Sonar X3 is a snap to use. The price is very reasonable for what you get. You're getting a college level book on how to use X3 for the price of a guitar or piano lesson. It's also up to date with the current version X3e !!Highly recommended for any Sonar X3 user !!
Better manual than the Cakewalk manual. Lots of good information. I wish it had more walk thru's of some of the more complex tasks. I also wish there was a table of new locations for old often used Sonar commands, it sometimes takes quite a lot of digging to access commands that used to be housed in the toolbar and easy to get to. Overall this is a worthwhile book and I've gotten a lot out of it.
OMG!I am a musician, songwriter, vocalist with a home studio. I have lots of books and resources on each of these dynamics. In my studio my DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) is Sonar X3 Producer. Sonar is powerful - which being interpreted means it can do almost everything, like Windows it gives you multiple ways to do everything, and therefore is intimating sometimes with where to start or which path to take. It would be easy to get lost in the process if I didn't have Scott Garrius' Sonar X3 Power! The Comprehensive Guide.Sonar X3 Power is freaking awesome! Scott does an excellent job of defining what Sonar is, why you need it, what it can do, and how to do it. Having Sonar X3 Power is like taking a college level course in recording. Using, text, screenshots, links to websites, online articles, etc., Scott takes our hand and shows us the best and most efficient way to take our musical ideas and goals and get them into the digital "real" world.I recommend Sonar X3 Power! Really helped me get moving using Sonar X 3. Still allot to learn but this manual shows most things. Only downfall is the lack of in depth information when setting up using multiple drives how to get add ons , vst instruments and third party software to work and store properly so not all on same drive.
This is a great reference book for Sonar X3. I bought Scott's books on Sonar 7 and Sonar 8 also, and they are indispensable to have handy in the studio when you are trying to figure out how to make a program as deep as Sonar bend to your will. I am an audio engineer and an electrical engineer, but that doesn't mean I know all the details on how to make this software program tick.....however, this book helps.
I've owned several editions of this book and I will probably buy the editions that are published for future versions of Sonar. Well-written and comprehensive, this book is an excellent reference and easy to learn from. If you are new to Sonar or are coming from an older version, this is probably well worth the cost. I have the Kindle version and it displays well on the smaller Fire.
I've purchase many of Scott's "Power" books. All quality, easy to read and helpful. Scott Garrigus does a great, step by step job of explaining this feature intense software package. I got this edition as a kindle style book which is easy to carry anywhere.
