The strip made its debut on October 4, 1931 in the Detroit Mirror. It was distributed by the Chicago Tribune New York News Syndicate. Gould wrote and drew the strip until 1977. Since that time, various artists and writers have continued the strip, which still runs in newspapers today.This book contains 4 complete classic Dick Tracy comic books from the 1940s - PLUS - a promotional Dick Tracy comic book from ESSO Oil Company, given to their service station employees, explaining the importance of providing courteous and friendly customer service.You will notice these stories, usually one continuous story per comic book, begin on the inside front cover (red and white panels) and continue through the inside back cover (also red and white panels) and finish up on the back cover; and no advertising insured you got your dime’s worth of pure entertainment!The comic books which follow were published 1944-46.
