This is an up-to-date explanation of blogging for writers that's very graphic & layout intensive. Translation - I didn't find a Kindle edition since it would be difficult to have the layout display properly on the wide variety of computer screens. That said, the book covers all the bases in starting and maintaining a website, oops, I mean blog. Don't worry about jotting down all the useful blog resources in the text. The author provides a one page list at the end. If you use Blogger.com or Wordpress.com, this is the book for you. A lot of existing blog sites by writers are featured. Learn what they're doing before you get started.
Blogging For Writers; How Authors & Writers Build Successful Blogs by Robin Houghton contains information for aspiring and current writers such as;chapter five (content is king, what makes a brilliant blog post on page 72), Some website examples of authors who allowed their blogs to be shown (pages 94 and 95), Other Good Online Communities For Writers (pages 120 and 121). What I like about this book is that even though the information seems to be tailored a little more to those who are going to write under their real name, there is also information that aspiring writers who plan on using pen names can take away such as How To Be Found In Searches (pages 98 and 99).
I am only 60 in so far but this is very informative and step by step. Robin has done an excellent job of paving the way for up and coming g blogger/writers. This book is fantastic in every way great pictures and screen shots coupled with top blogger/writers comments and showcases of their work. Highly recommend.
I was looking for information on Goodreads and Tumblr, since I intend to be using those sites. However, for what I want to do, there seems to be too much data about the other blogging sites. I'm sure that anyone wanting to use Blogger or Wordpress will get much more from this book than I have.
This book was not quite what I was hoping for, but I think it is pretty good for what it is. While I wouldn't consider myself a blogging expert by any means, I think I was a bit more advanced than the audience this book is intended for. If you really don't have a clue on where to begin when it comes to blogging, this is probably going to be a wonderful resource for you. I've already had a blog for a couple of years and I was hoping to figure out a way to improve it and make it a bit more focused in regards to my writing. That's what felt like it was missing. There was a small section on topic suggestions and such, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for. Needless to say, I don't think this book should be as geared towards writers, but to those who are interested in beginning to blog in general.
This is a very informative book for bloggers who have the basic knowledge about blogging down. I like the layout and format of the book.
