A truly fun and informative read from an author whose love for jewelry, film and.... the story or stories that underscore the famed gems and the famous women who wore them. Ms. Bernstein knows how to write like she is having a conversation with the readers, which is a definite plus for this type of beautifully illustrated book, packed with iconic gems, famed jewelry houses and renowned celebrities. She takes us behind the scenes, relating the most heartfelt and humorous anecdotes and also on a narrative journey of how the gems were not only significant to the owners on a sentimental and very personal level but how they affected the culture and time periods they were designed and worn in. In addition she shows us the jewelry that helped shape the plot lines and character development in films, how jewels affected the street and how Icons shaped the way woman looked at jewelry and still do. It's must read for everyone who loves jewelry, film and definitely both. The photos bring it all to life. Bernstein's memoir "My Charmed Life" revealed her life story through the most significant jewels she owned and weaved together her own tales of family, romance and life's twists and turns...and now she achieves the same warm and chatty style in dealing with the most famous woman of the 20th century.
