This is a light hearted, somewhat irreverent look at the process of buying a diamond. No pictures to speak of but thoroughly enjoyable with quite a few useful observations, particularly on how to avoid dodgy salespeople.
If you're looking to buy a diamond or lots of it for your sweetheart or for any other reason, and you're searching for a book or manual to guide you through the process, look no further...get this guide because it's all you will ever need.I hardly write reviews on products I purchase but I had to write one for the author of this book because he totally blew me away with both information and deep insights on buying diamonds. In fact the author made things so easy and so clear that you will make no mistakes when buying the diamond of your woman's dreams. You will be precise on what exactly to buy so much that even the diamond dealer will think you're a dealer too. Thereby, saving you a few thousand dollars in the process of buying that beautiful 'bling' that will make your lady fall in love with you all over again. On a scale of 1 to 10, I will give this book a 9+. A 9+ because I don't give anything a 10.So quit searching for a diamond-buying guide. This book is all you will ever need. Thank you author for the time you invested in writing a book so insightful and yet fun to read as this one :)Louis
This gem of a book is forever too! Diamonds 101 is the real deal, the au natural that will guide you through the murky waters of the diamond world, such that you safely reach land without losing a boatload of cash during your navigation. What I like particularly about Diamonds 101 is that it not only is comprehensive but fun to read too! This Dirk Rendel clearly knows his stuff (carbon in this case, diamonds are made of carbon), but he also can communicate his vast knowledge in a way that won't leave you bored for one page - few authors ever achieve that. His colorful way of writing is a gem in its own right, thus even if you're not into becoming a diamond connoisseur and you merely want to make sure you're not going to be ripped off during your engagement ring hunt, this book will likely please even those who'd normally not touch a whole book about diamonds. It's well structured and (almost) void of spelling mistakes. And yes, it does guide you through the realms of artificial diamonds too. After just finishing it, I can say I feel not just informed but entertained too. I am glad I own it, and I firmly believe that, particularly, every young couple should have this book, plus of course the well-off who may already have spent years of their life buying jewellery with a mounted diamond every now and then - while to this day they likely don't know which is real and which isn't...
Easy to read and understand. Gave great useful info prior to purchasing our diamond. It was definitely worth the purchase.
Even I cannot afford good diamonds yet, I learned how to identify a good one, and to avoid scams. I recommend this book for people who like to buy jewels, to make jewels, who are urban treasure hunters, or just for curious like me. It is a very pleasant reading. I just miss more pictures, and a reference guide with best places to buy as retailers or dealer. I would like to know a good and reliable manufacturer.
