I bought this book today at my local B&N store at 30% off. Now I understand why the discount. This book's content is based on a pre-release version of the Nook HD software, so a lot of stuff here does not agree with what we see on a real Nook HD or Nook HD+. I got my Nook HD within the first week of release and I'm sure that even before the latest firmware upgrade, the experience I had on my new Nook HD last fall differs from what's described in many parts of the book. One quick example: the book says the profile management feature does not really work, that everybody must enter a passcode which then lets anyone, including a child user, access all the profiles. This was not true at Nook HD's release early last November and is certainly not true at this time. The book also makes numerous references to "first release of the user guide"! Not helpful. I recommend you find a book that pertains to the true Nook software operations.

I only gave this one 3 stars because so far I have not found what I was looking for in it. Maybe you need a better working knowledge to begin with then I have, or maybe it needs a better index. This is not the first "for Dummies" book I have bought and have found this to be the issue with all of them.

I purchased a new Nook HD and was having problems learning all the things I can do with it. This book has been great for teaching me the ways of this new tablet. I'm a 70 year old with a new toy and this book for dummies can answer any question I have.

It was not as complete as I expected.I was hoping that it would explain the much more complex applications of the Nook.I don't think that I would recommend it, but if so, to real beginners.

Anything for Dummies is a good thing! I need "basic" information without all the technical crap to try and get around. Very user friendly.

This Nook Dummies book was very well put together and exceptionally easy to understand. Very easy reading and great for Nook beginners.

Could be better organized for someone who is not at all familiar with the NOOK. I want something that tells me how to get started immediately. This book did not do that for me.

It has helped me with the use of my Nook HD. They could use some tech writing expertise for this publication, but, it gets to the basic issues, though not always smoothly!
