I have no real experience but have been researching home distilling through multiple books. If you are in that category, this is the book for you. I feel I could use this book and a couple youTube videos and make my first run fine. I particularly like the advice in the build-or-buy chapter. This is the 3rd book I've gotten on the topic and this one is the best for me.

Of the five books I have purchased, this book has the most complete information on how to design, use and enjoy your apparatus. I would go so far as to say this one is a must have for the home cooker.

Great first read for beginners and folks just curious of the process and wanting to broaden their horizons. Very good pictures and not over simplified or over complicated in language. If you passed high school you'll be okay with this read.

This is one of the better books on distilling. I own a distillery and there are few books out there that get into the specifics for distillers since it is illegal without the permits (I have). There is little information out there regarding distilling since it is illegal in the USA.

This is a very informative book for a beginner like my self. It goes into deep discussion about what you will need and the different types of grains and yeast. Overall not a bad book.

This is on of the best of the books here on distilling. Easy to read and understand .Takes you step by step.If you are just starting, this is the book for you.

I read through this book in about two days. I found the contents to be instructional and I appreciated the background information. There is a lot of good tips to get you going on your own. As this author points out, there are many different ways and it will be impossible to put it all in one book. If you are the experimental type and want to work your own recipes then this book will get you going with the knowledge you will need to go forward. There are a few recipes in the back of the book to help you get started and understand the process. If you are looking for instructions on how to make your own still, look else where. If you are contemplating on what kind of still to either build or purchase then this author covers it in detail. All in all, a good book and quick read to submerge you in to the world of distilling.

An excellent book for those transitioning from beer/cider/mead making to 'the next step'. Logically organized and clearly presented with diagrams and photos to explain the concepts of the process and what the specific pieces of equipment do. I took part in a group distilling session on a cobbled-together home made system. The book's exacting description of the process allowed me to understand (and make sense) of what was happening that day.A must have resource for your library!
