It starts when you get your tablet, setting it up and all the first things you do to going into the more "off the grid" things. I haven't finished it yet but look forward to learning even more tricks of the trade with this great tablet. I recommend getting it as soon as you can after getting your Kindle Fire HDX or any of the other Kindle devices. I had the one for the paperwhite too and it was so helpful that this was the first book I bought when I ordered my new tablet.
I bought this book for my wife so she would have a hard copy reference. The book also contains instructions for the HD which I have. My wife has looked through the book and found helpful information. I have yet to do so but will when I need some help. I must say that I am disappointed the sells this product without access to an instruction manual that can be downloaded and printed. The Kindle HD and the HDX are the only hi-tech devices that I have purchased that did not have access to an instruction manual that can be downloaded and printed.
I've been a fan of the dummy books since they came out. Some I bought are so dog-eared from use, I've thought about replacing them. This one will definitely not be used that much.It seems I'm either too dumb or too smart for this one in that it seems to spend a lot a time telling me how to download books and/or videos (which I knew already) but nothing about how to show a video on your TV (which I haven't a clue how to do). I pushed the help button in regard to the showing on TV before receiving the book and the helpful lady said if I didn't have a smart TV I'd need a dongel (sp?). I was hopeful the book would have something about dongels and the like, it didn't.I also tried to see how to create documents on the HDX and couldn't find the app the book told me use. The helpful lady behind the help button explained it was something I'd have to download.I have a feeling the HDX is so new that the book was written on what was thought was going to be on it. Maybe an updated version of the book will be better.
I liked it and needed it. I can't do much comparing to other products as I am almost completely computer-illiterate as are many of my friends. I am trying to get some of them to learn Kindle products that I am enthused about since I got my Kindlefire HDX for Christmas.
This book is great for someone who is new to Kindle H D X. I have four Kindles.I did get a few pointers, but I was surprised this book did not go deeper into the finer details. I would advise against buying this book at this time. I will wait and see if they improve this book and buy it again at a later date.
This is a great book for any one not familiar with the Kindle Fire HDX. Easy to read and follow plus good pictures. Highly recommended.

I hate it when I buy an unfamiliar piece of equipment like my Kindle Fire HDX and it doesn't come with a hard copy owner's manual. I want to open a manual up that's spread out in front of me when I'm learning something, not have to constantly refer to the device itself and then hop back and forth. Kindle Fire HDX for Dummies is just what I needed and helped out a lot.
