never ever ever lined up with the program. I try and try and try, reading every single word and following the directions, but it never works. I've never experienced so much frustration with a workbook. Though this may be an issue with adobe updating their program constantly. There needs to be some way to fix this so that I'm not spending ridiculous amounts of money on a textbook that just doesn't work.
I bought this book for class, and within a month of its release date it was already outdated. Out teacher assigned us to do the tutorials for homework which was challenging because the directions did not work for the current version of the software. Luckily we only had to do 5 chapters, but near the end my Blooms and Bulbs and Striped Umbrella websites started to become messed up. I'm rather upset that I spent so much money for a book that was outdated within a month of it's release date.
Book is well written, lots of details. Unfortunately, Dreamweaver has updates every few months and the newest version doesn't mesh with this book. Unless they change it again, the version I have doesn't have the "design view" which is the view you can work in to change the set-up of the webpage. That makes it tricky to merge vertical cells in a table, or do some things in online Forms, but if you know code, you can still do it. The shortcuts are just not there. Chapter 5 was difficult to follow, even my instructor had some changes for that chapter. The book helps people who have version 5, I think. It's set up with explanations, than exercises with explanations, than more exercises and assignments. Pretty good for the older version(s), but not very friendly for the newest.
The book looked to be very good and I was going to use it in the fall at the local college. However, after finding out that Adobe charges $10.00 per month when using Dreamweaver CC - I dropped the class and returned the book.
I use this book in a class. The book is suppose to line up with a course the instructor teaches. Overall the book does a great job, and gives practice websites. However, there have been a few times where something in the book did not line up with the course. Or, the book did not give enough details about something. One other issue with a book on CC will be that CC can change often and the book may not be able to change with the changes of the software.
I teach this application in a community college to several different levels of student ability. For someone who has an understanding of html and css this book is great! For those who are beginners, it proves to be a challenge.The good part is that, although it focuses on building a site rather than designing a site, the exercises follow though each chapter and the student ends up with 4 finished sites.I did find the text a bit too small to read - the same as the Photoshop Revealed publication.
