A charming Easter tale sure to delight young and old alike. Children will love looking for the eggs hidden in the pictures and listening to the rhythmic language; adults will smile at the new and original twists on this Easter time take-off of the well-loved Twas the Night Before Christmas. The perfect Easter basket gift!
My son received this as an Easter Gift for his first Easter, and we are still reading it three Easters later. He loves to hear it, and I love to read it to him. This makes a great addition to your Easter Basket!
I ordered this book for my grandson for Easter. I also have "The Night Before Thanksgiving". Since my 5-year old grandson liked that one so much, I decided to order the Easter version. The "story" is similar to "The Night Before Christmas".
This is a book written in the same style as Twas the Night Before Christmas, but instead of Santa it focuses on the Easter Bunny. This does not have the same magical feeling you get when reading though. Mostly this is about the treats that the Easter Bunny leaves, there is little emotion and none of the excitement. I kind of wish there was more to the story than just getting stuff. The illustrations are just precious, so sweet and cute. That definitely saves the book for me. Since we have other Easter books I don't mind so much that this one is pretty shallow. My little one is too young to really know the difference and right now I feel uncomfortable talking to her about Jesus' death and resurrection. She has no concept of the greatness of that sacrifice or even what death is (she's only 2) and I don't want to go there just yet. For now, Easter is about the bunny. When she's older, it will be a different story. There are no religious references in this book, so if your family is not religious or you are looking for a book for a public school or daycare classroom this might be a decent option.
Initially, I was surprised to see this book was similar to the Night Before Christmas, but after reading it several times to a delighted 2 1/2 year old, am very happy I made the purchase. It is an easy read, and not really like the other book referred to above. The pictures are nice and colorful, without being too overwhelming - the author and artist did a good job with this one. Also, there is an entire series regarding other special days, including The Night Before Preschool, which I intend to purchase soon.
A bright happy book! Fun to find other objects in the story after reading the whole book. Would definitly recommend this book. Looking forward to purchasing other The Night Before books!
As a multi religion household we try to stay far away from religious books. This book is great. Cute illustrations, easy to follow story for the younger ones. It is a fun read that has my little ones excited for Easter. It shows how the Easter Bunny comes and hides eggs for children. There are some humorous parts, where the Easter Bunny runs into a few glitches, like tripping over things.I didn't give it five stars because of the book/pages. I think they are a little thin for little hands who like to help turn the pages. So if you're buying this book for younger kids, I suggest that you supervise and put the book away when you're finished reading it.
This book is excellent. My ESL students love it! They like the rhyming, colorful illustrations, and the ability to easily comprehend the story. All of her books are "Best practice Blue ribbon" I love watching my students read them to each other. They always want to take them home for rereading.
