It is a good study on God's view of sex, but it lacks some in depth analysis. It would be a great resource for marriage counselors and pastors alike. However, for those seeking an deeper analysis of sex in the Bible this is not it, it is very top level and does come with some analysis and commentaries but not a whole lot. All in all it is a great resource for pastors, counselors, and general people looking to improve their marriage, but it is not intended for deep study.
Wow. This is the best book that I have ever read on the subject of marital intimacy. It covers everything. It is not a trashy or preachy book, it simply shares God's ideas on what marriage and intimacy should be like between husbands and wives. This is a wonderful book! It is an easy read for anyone, whether you are a lay person in the church or a Biblical scholar. I would recommend this book to anyone seeking to get married. I was blessed by Dr. Akin to read this book about what a true biblical marriage looks like. I have read the Song of Solomon several times, but this book goes through the whole thing explaining it in detail. Very helpful and insightful read.
I would recommend this book, and I have, to anyone having issues in there marriage. This book is not about getting or having better sex, but it is about how a husband and wife should respect each other's in all areas if their marriage.
As a Sunday School teacher trying to teach young married couples what the Bible has to say about sex, this book has made it much easier. It takes the Song of Solomon and brakes it down into a teaching outline for you with great commentary and examples on the verses.
I got this book for a class on marriage and family counseling. It was a good read and gave me a lot of insight. I plan on going through this again when I get married as a refresher.
