Petal & Twig is a joyful show-and-tell book about creating stress-free bouquets from the bounty of our gardens. Cleverly written and loaded with colorful photographs (mostly taken by the author), this book has great ideas relating to floral arrangements, cool vase collecting, personal inspirations, and a core list of plants for our gardens. A lot of passion and creativeness went into this delightful book. I highly recommend it.
i thought this book would show more pictures of how to use petals and twigs during there seasons.it only had one small picture of each season.. it mostly just talked about what things were around that you could use.. not how to use them....i had hoped it would give more examples on how to use petals and twigs, with simple ideas not a book i would buy again...
I like Val's book, as it has a lot of good ideas for the average home gardener. Most of us have too much going on in our lives, to have the time to create elaborate/expensive arrangements, and Val has many wonderful examples of what one can accomplish with a small garden. And, her use of color and texture appeals to me. Some of the beautifully photographed bouquets are simple and elegant, others more elaborate, but all bring a smile to my face.
Petal & Twig: Seasonal Bouquets with Blossoms, Branches, and Grasses from Your GardenI just got my first edition Petal & Twig signed by the author, Valerie Easton. This is a great book for our family since we have a small space for gardening and limited full sun. If you have a sunny yard, you are all set.Easton's enthusiasm for growing a lot of great plants in a little space is infectious. And I can't wait for the seasons to change this year in our garden, anticipating some of the different flowers and foliage throughout the year.
This book is a beautiful book and I'm sure once I'm over my initial disappointment I will come to appreciate what the author has to say. From the title, I expected a much different book than I got. i'm an old hippie I guess . . . thought petal and twig would be rather earthy.
Just not enough info doesn't tell you what the flowers are that are used in arrangements.Pretty bland nothing very exciting and unusual. Quite disappointed.
Petal and Twig will motivate you to create lovely bouquets from your own garden. It will also inspire you to have fun with various vessels to hold your flowers. If you were not lucky enough to catch Val Easton's talk last week, be sure to attend her seminar at the Seattle Flower Show on 2/9...you will be ready to put that cabin fever behind and start thinking Spring!Petal & Twig: Seasonal Bouquets with Blossoms, Branches, and Grasses from Your Garden
Because I'm sort of a pretend horticulturalist, I have an eclectic, minimal garden. Most garden books are overly ambitious for me. This little gem is one I can enjoy and utilize. I love it!
