Wow! Literally everything I needed was included. This is like the Crochet Making Bible. Georgina has done a great job to make this book extremely simple to follow and it really is what is says on the cover - a crash course. I learnt so much! I literally don’t think there is any other recourse that is as complete as this book. i can’t thank you enough for the effort you have put in to make this good so good. Brilliant. Despite the fact that this book has got me to a basic level I will still be keeping it for future reference as there is just so much information!
Let me start by saying that I was looking for a way to learn to crochet becasue I wanted to help my wife with her hat and scarf making business. I was always intimadated by crochet and thought it was going to be something that is going to take a long time to master. I liked the fact that this book is a "crash course" in crochet, which is exactly what I needed. As I went through the book, I started to follow the techniques taught and got the hang of things pretty quick. I guess watching my wife crochet for years rubbed off on me. I really like that the book contained diagrams on how to perfrom the techniques, which made things so much easier, as well as pictures of what things should look like. The first thing I tried was the granny square and I crocheted it like a master. It reminds me of blankets I had when I grew up. All in all, this is a great book, easy read and an awesome crash course in learning to crochet!
While reading the book, I was wondering whether more images would help me understand the described stitches in the text before I start my way to crocheting because I am really having difficulty. Then I thought, there is youtube - why not cross reference the text to actual demonstration there? Basically this book, gave me a round up of what to learn in crocheting as well as gave me tips and explanation on what I see in the videos - like a guide in my course into the world of crocheting
Awesome resource for anyone interested in crochet! My parents loved this book as a way to brush up on their crocheting skills. Its well written and explains in great length (with pictures) to guide you to successfully crochet. Since it is a crash course you might feel overwhelmed at times due to the information but take it page by page and in no time you will be done in no time! It even teaches you how to do a beanie! Thank you Elizabeth!
This was one of the best presents I've ever got! My daughter purchased this book for me for my birthday, as I've recently become a bit bored after retiring and needed a hobby. This book provided me with a fantastic starting point to fuel my passion for this new found hobby, and I'm excited to get better and better from here. I'll be using the techniques taught within this book as I get more and more skilled as well, as I can see it's not only for beginners.
I'm a novice at crotech. So this was very easy to follow for someone who needs step by step. I loved how this book was able to describe many possible scenarios and gave a quick way to help fix any small issue you may have from splitting thread to losing your spot. Will recommend this book especially to anyone who is new to trying to crochet.
Packed full of information, dense and comprehensive, a great little reference book for novice crochet students, but only those who know how to do the basic stitch types.Sadly, there were no photos of the basic stitches after learning chain stitch (starting). As I've never crocheted before, it would be very helpful - I don't find the basic stitch descriptions at all clear. This made most of the book unusable for me.
The pictures did not seem to help me understand what the book was trying to say, and the purpose for some of the instruction is still not clear (I still have no idea what I needed mesh for). The YouTube videos have been much more helpful, and I've gotten much better fairly quickly since switching to that learning method.
