I’m not into stuff like this and it’s not a title I would’ve picked on my own, to be honest. But, my boss required all of us in the office to read and learn about SMART Big Data. I got this title specifically because it’s for beginners. Glad that Vince Reynolds didn’t disappoint. This was very detailed work. I had zero ideas about this science prior to reading this, but he turned it into something comprehensible for me. He sure knows his stuff. Good reference, would recommend.
In this big, big world where everything relies on databases and big data structures, for every person interested in this subject, this book is excellent. You get to know how all that functions and is combined into one big source of database. Definitely something that you would like to understand a bit better.
Struggled through almost half of this book before I gave up. Numerous good ideas and concepts, buried under sentence fragments, blatantly incorrect usage that smells strongly of spell check ("by" where "but" should have been used, etc). I finally quit not because the content was bad, but because I simply tired of rereading sentences over and over again to determine what word had been mistakenly inserted by spell check.
Quite an informative books on what big data and its analysis can provide for us human beings in the near future, but I'd have preferred if it had a little more details on the methods of data analysis.But overall this is a very informative reference when it comes to Big data thing.
Disappointing:1/ Around 100 pages of content with big characters. The real number of pages would be around 50-60.2/Baldly written, the autors uses a boring style. A lot of bla bla regarding the magic of bid data and what it can do with few real examples.3/Not all the concepts are explained.
This book repeats itself over and over, its a vollection of researched info out together to sell as an ebook. Thats the feeling it gives off.From beginning till the end, i skimmed most and read parts (after the initial disappointment).Not worth your time!!
Prior to reading to this book, I have no idea what Big Data is all about. It is indeed a big Conundrum for me. However, because this book is so comprehensive in its discussions, I was able to grasp its meaning and importance in improving business performance, some of life's major decisions and so much more. I find the book well written and done in an easy to comprehend manner.
